Palm Beach Shores, a Waterfront Beach Town at the Tip of Singer Island
Palm Beach Shores occupies the southern tip of Singer Island, a barrier-island town with the Atlantic on its east edge, the Lake Worth Lagoon (Intracoastal) on the west, and the Palm Beach (Lake Worth) Inlet at the south. It was laid out by A.O. Edwards beginning in 1947 and began its corporate existence as a town in 1951. It is genuinely small—about 0.4 square mile in total area, with 1,330 residents recorded in the 2020 Census—and it reads as a low-rise town rather than the high-rise corridor farther north on Singer Island.
For buyers, the town includes single-family homes, lower-rise condominium properties, waterfront parcels, and three longstanding marina sites—Sailfish, Buccaneer, and Cannonsport—along the Lake Worth Lagoon. Water access, controlling depth, slip availability, and marina terms must be confirmed for the exact property or berth. The marquee oceanfront condo towers people picture as "Singer Island luxury," the Ritz-Carlton Residences, the Marriott resort, VistaBlue, 5000 North Ocean, and Amrit, mostly sit just north of the town line in the City of Riviera Beach. So the right way to read this address is one walkable, boating-centric town inside a broader Singer Island luxury island.

Palm Beach Shores is served by the School District of Palm Beach County. School assignment is determined by the exact property address through the District's current boundary tools. Assignment is by exact home address, and choice and magnet programs admit by application, so confirm both the zoned schools and any options for a specific property before you buy. The notes below describe assignment, not school quality; confirm current zoning for a specific address before you buy.
| School | Grades | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elementary school | K–5 | Public | Confirm the current assigned school through the District's address lookup |
| Middle school | 6–8 | Public | Confirm the current assigned school through the District's address lookup |
| High school | 9–12 | Public / Choice | Confirm the zoned school by address; Suncoast is a Choice school and does not have a regular attendance area |
School assignments depend on the exact address, and choice/magnet seats are limited. Verify zoning and program options with the School District of Palm Beach County and the PBCPAO school-zone lookup before a purchase decision.

Recreation & Things to Do in Palm Beach Shores
Life here happens on the water and the sand: a town beach, three marinas, the Inlet and jetty, and some of the area's best snorkeling and boating across the Lagoon. It is an active, boating-and-beach lifestyle rather than a nightlife scene, which is much of the appeal.
Palm Beach Shores Municipal Beach
The town-run oceanfront beach has pavilions, a playground, and lifeguard services, an easy daily walk for most of the town. Singer Island adds roughly seven miles of island-wide beachfront for snorkeling, paddleboarding, and charter fishing.
Phil Foster Park & the Snorkel Trail
At the Blue Heron Boulevard causeway, Phil Foster Park has a two-acre underwater snorkel trail built from limestone boulders and reef modules in approximately 6 to 10 feet of water. The park is generally open from sunrise to sunset, while boat-ramp access follows separate rules.
Peanut Island Park
Reachable only by boat, Peanut Island Park offers beaches, snorkeling, paddling access, day-use docks, and 17 reserved tent campsites. The historic Kennedy bunker is currently closed until further notice, so do not plan a visit around bunker access.
The Marinas, Inlet & Jetty
Sailfish, Buccaneer, and Cannonsport are lagoon-side marina properties near the Palm Beach Inlet. Confirm current operations, controlling depth, vessel limits, slip terms, and route conditions before relying on a berth.

My Honest Take on Palm Beach Shores
What I tell buyers who ask about Palm Beach Shores
Palm Beach Shores is, in my view, the rare South Florida address where you get a real beach town, walkable and low-rise, on a barrier-island tip with ocean on one side and the Lagoon and Inlet on the other. You can choose a low-rise home and arrange marina access at one of three longstanding lagoon-side marina properties, and have Florida's no-state-income-tax math underneath. For a buyer who wants the boat and the beach as a daily lifestyle rather than a condo amenity, it is hard to match.
What Palm Beach Shores doesn't do well
It is tiny—about 0.4 square mile in total area, with 1,330 residents recorded in the 2020 Census— so inventory is thin and waterfront homes turn over slowly. It is a barrier-island, coastal-exposure address, which means wind and flood insurance, seawall and dock upkeep, and elevation diligence are real line items by parcel. There are no schools within the town itself, the island is served by one main bridge so access can back up, and the marquee oceanfront condo towers people associate with "Singer Island" are mostly just north in Riviera Beach, a different jurisdiction, so it pays to confirm exactly where the town line falls.
Who it's best for, and who should look elsewhere
Best for: boating buyers prepared to verify marina availability, vessel limits, and inlet access, those who want a walkable beach-town house rather than a tower condo, and second-home or seasonal owners who want a small, low-key island address.
May not suit: buyers who specifically want a high-rise oceanfront condo (look just north on Singer Island), those who want a gated golf-and-country-club lifestyle (see PGA National or Admirals Cove), or buyers who want a larger town with more inventory and school options (look at Jupiter or Palm Beach Gardens). I will tell you honestly when one of those fits better.
