Singer Island, Direct-Ocean Living in Palm Beach County
Singer Island is a barrier island on the Atlantic coast of Palm Beach County, most of it within the city of Riviera Beach, with the small town of Palm Beach Shores at the southern tip. It was originally envisioned in the 1920s by Paris Singer (of the Singer sewing-machine family) as "Palm Beach Ocean." Today it is best known for 4.7 miles of white-sand beach, a corridor of luxury oceanfront condominium towers, and John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, one of the area's last stretches of protected coastline.
For buyers, Singer Island is mostly a condominium market, and the building you choose matters as much as the unit. The towers range from established 1970s and 1980s buildings to ground-up luxury like the Ritz-Carlton Residences and 5000 North Ocean. The key fork is direct-ocean versus the Intracoastal (Lake Worth Lagoon) side, and from there it comes down to the building's amenities, reserves, and rules. It offers genuine oceanfront living across a wide range of buildings and price points; comparisons with Palm Beach or other coastal markets should be made building by building.

My Honest Take on Singer Island
What I tell buyers who ask about Singer Island
Singer Island offers a wide range of direct-ocean condominium choices in Palm Beach County. You get a real beach, walkable from the tower, the MacArthur Beach State Park preserve, and a range of buildings from established value to brand-new luxury, with pricing that must be compared by building, unit, view, condition, and association finances. For an oceanfront condo buyer who wants the beach as a lifestyle and Florida's no-state-income-tax math underneath, it is hard to beat.
What Singer Island doesn't do well
It is a condo market, so the building is the purchase, and that cuts both ways. Older oceanfront towers can carry meaningful capital risk: dues, reserves, special assessments, and Florida's milestone-inspection and Structural Integrity Reserve Study requirements may apply depending on the building and statutory criteria; completed reports, required repairs, reserve funding, and deadlines should be reviewed building by building. There is limited single-family inventory, the island is served by one main bridge so access can back up, and the surrounding Riviera Beach mainland is a mix that is still evolving. Coastal wind and flood insurance is a real line item here.
Who it's best for, and who should look elsewhere
Best for: oceanfront condo buyers who want walkable beach living, second-home and seasonal owners who want lock-and-leave luxury, and buyers who want direct-ocean value relative to Palm Beach or Jupiter's waterfront.
May not suit: buyers who want single-family living or a private dock at the home (look at Jupiter or North Palm Beach), those who want to avoid condo associations and assessments entirely, or buyers who want a gated golf-and-country-club lifestyle (see PGA National or Admirals Cove). I will tell you honestly when one of those fits better.
